THANKSGIVING DECORATING

On November 1, I took down the Halloween things and had intended to take this cupboard we made to display Halloween things, to the garage until next year. Hubby may have been wrong suggesting we use it for Christmas but the color seems just right for Thanksgiving. Link to pattern and directions for cupboard: Link
One of the things that I love about the cabinet is that you may display things that would not necessarily go together but work in the cabinet if they are for the same holiday. This fabulous metal turkey is an after Thanksgiving last year find, marked way down, at Nell Hill's in Atchinson, KS.  My favorite store and a special place to visit with my dear DIL Lindy. I also want to thank her for the "Give Thanks" banner on the top of the cabinet. After I bought this rather large metal turkey I wondered just how I was going to get him home on an airplane - he does come apart, his tail comes off but I am sure I gave those TSA folks a little pause for thought as my suitcase passed through the x-ray!
A cute Nancy Thomas print, some old items from my collection and a pumpkin I made.
Again, some treasures from the past.
A wee turkey from Williams-Sonoma.
More old friends, Debbee Thibault pumpkins and one of my wooden pumpkins.
I love lanterns and used these two to house some candles (will take the girl pilgrim out when the candles are lit). Lanterns don't just have to be for a candles - they are good to display many items. Easy arrangement in the glass vase - I change this one with the seasons.
Cozy pillows on the couch help to set the fall scene in the living room and make a great addition to any cozy sectional.

This round lantern sits on a little flat wreath on a sideboard in the dining room. I change the look by adding things that go with the season.

I keep a small grapevine wreath on a plate with a white candle and chimney on my dining room table, it is very easy to change out the decorations for the seasons.

In the kitchen, a Nancy Thomas plate.
Also in the kitchen a bigger version of the Williams-Sonoma turkey in the entry.
On the bench out front a simple oak leaf wreath, some pillows with covers made from Williams-Sonoma kitchen towels with a turkey front and center.

Both sides of the entry.  Directions to make the wreath link:
