NORTH POLE COCOA CO. PEPPERMINT HOT CHOCOLATE IN A JAR!

While working on a project for Alzheimer's Idaho I needed a label and as I seem to always be working under time constraints I looked on Etsy for a label I could use (instead of designing one) and I found this one and I absolutely love this label - "Handmade by Elves", just too cute. I need a hostess gift for a weekend neighborhood party and thought this would be just the ticket.
Very simple ingredients list: Mini-chocolate chips, powdered milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt, sugar and either already crushed peppermint candies or purchase peppermint candies and crush your own in a heavy Zip Lock bag.

In a clean 1 quart jar pour in 1 cup powdered milk, over that 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup sugar, 1/2t salt, 1/2 cup mini-chocolate chips and finally 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy. This recipe will fill the quart jar to the top.

Instructions to include: Mix contents in a bowl. For each serving place 1/3 cup mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup hot water. Store remaining mix in the jar or any other airtight container. I included the instructions on a label on the top of the jar.
I put the ingredients list on the back of the jar as any gift of food should always list all ingredients used.

TO PRINT: If you have a draw program just copy and paste the sheet into your program. If you do not have a draw program an easy way to print out a sheet of these labels is to "right click" on the image and "save to your desktop", then "right click" on the file on the desktop and you get the option to "open in Picasa" (if you do not have Picasa it is free and an easy download) once in Picasa select the "print" option, then "full page", if it does not fit the page then select the" fit to page" option and it will print out perfectly.  If you are not using a lami-label then print it out on a full 8 1/2 x 11 full sheet label and then cut around the labels as you need them. I know this sounds complicated but it is really easy and once you have done it you will see it is that. Right click, save to desktop, right click, open in Picasa and print. Here is the link for Picasa: Link

A note about my labels.  I used a process called Lami-labels and you need a laminator to make these labels. I know not everyone has one of these machines.  If you do you can purchase the labels at FedEx (the used to be Kinko's locations). I will do a future "Tools of the Trade Tuesday" feature on these labels as they are wonderful and if you are a serious crafter it is worth considering the purchase of a laminator.  In the meantime you can print out labels on a full sheet Avery label.

  1. Hi there!! I love these jars and would love to male them for my child's teachers this year! Can you help me on how to male the circles on top of the jars?

  2. Hi Katie - thank you for your interest. I just added a sheet of labels as well as the ingredients label. There are instructions below the labels. If you print them out on a full sheet 8 1/2 x 11 label then you will just have to cut around them, peel off the back and adhere to your jar. I love these too - one of my most popular posts. Thank you for stopping by. j.

    1. Katie - were you able to print out the file I sent? If not let me know your address and if one sheet would be ample and I will mail you a sheet. Happy Thanksgiving. j.
