HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanksgiving blessings to all who see this post today.  It is my hope that everyone is safe and snuggled into their homes enjoying their families at this annual time of reflection.  The world has become an even more scary place recently, we all need to be vigilant and take care of one another. Love to all of you and thank you for stopping by. j.

Thanksgiving Feasting

When the Halloween pumpkins are gone,
And the leaves have all fallen to ground,
When the air has turned windy and cold,
Then Thanksgiving will soon be around.

Thoughts of loved ones all feasting together,
Pleasant pictures from past times appear
To dwell in each heart and each mind--
Then Thanksgiving is finally here!

The kitchen has scrumptious aromas,
The dining room looks oh, so fine,
Decorations with pilgrims and turkeys,
And now we are ready to dine!

First the napkins are placed on our laps;
Now the prayer for the meal to be blessed,
Then we stuff the good food in our tummies,
And we hope for it all to digest!

LAST MINUTE EASY FALL DECORATING

It's almost here, Turkey Day and gathering around our families.  I thought I would share a very simple, easy way to put together some fall decorations at the last minute and without breaking the bank.
A few years ago after Thanksgiving when all the Christmas things were out I purchased a big bunch of all different faux foliage stems and I just keep them in a shelf in the garage in a big plastic bin.  So useful to have around.  The only other things that I used were florist foam, a small round of grapevines and a large plastic urn - the online seller I bought the urn from said it was black but when it arrived it was a nice rich brown color so I put away the can of spray paint I had intended to use to make it brown.
I put a big can of tomatoes in the bottom of the urn to weight it down and then put the florist foam in - make sure it is nice and tight for the stability of the arrangement.
For the bottom of the arrangement just go around the urn and pull the stems down until they look even all around.
Then add the top layer and make sure that it all looks balanced.
To make the entire arrangement look balanced and a little more woodsy I crisscrossed cut sections of the grapevine and just stuck them inside the arrangement.
Here it is in my entry - just added a couple of more items.  I cannot tell you how fast this went together - took longer to gather up all the things I needed to make this than to put it together.
A little favorite framed saying.......
 One to print......
Took some of the leftovers and wound them around a candlestick.....

And finally I added a few of the fall stems to a cachepot and a couple of color appropriate tassels and voila I had a little piece for the dining room.

From start to finish this took so little time and I bought nothing. So think about this (if you like the look) when you see beautiful fall stems on the 90% (if you are lucky like me) off table and tuck them away for next fall or buy a few now for this year.
